Government Spending
December 2025
I see whose taxes really support the government, everyday families. Most of them provide this support using money they can’t afford to give up. I say all this to express my complete disbelief that the government spent 220 million on an advertisement. For who? For what purpose?
What funds were used? General, designated, restricted? Someone approves the budget, so it’s not all on Noem. There are others involved, who are they? This is misuse of taxpayer’s money. Medicaid cut everywhere. Medicare pays so little, Tricare refuses to pay for medications and treatments for our veterans. But the government can spend 220 million on an advertisement?
So where does this tax money come from? The below table shows the taxes owed based on the taxable income. This means the standard deduction or itemized deductions and/or any credits have already reduced the income, what is left is taxed (taxable income).
For example for a single filer, using the standard deduction, their gross annual income is automatically reduced by $15,750, which is the standard deduction for 2025. So if they have taxable income left of 11,924 and chart below, this amount is taxed at 10%. Putting it all back to the beginning, they actually had gross income of $27,674. This is $12,024 over the poverty line for a single person (see below).
2025 Tax Rate Single filers Married Filing Jointly]
10% $0 - $11,925 $0 - $23,850
12% $11,926-$48,475 $23,851-$96,950
22% $48,476-$103,350 $96,951-$206,700
24% $103,351-$197,300 $206,701-$394,600
